In Memoriam

Pünktchen, January 2001 - October 23, 2013

Back in February 2012, we were amazed that Roxie took such a decision to take you to her home. We believed that she has difficulties to take care of herself, how would she manage to take care of both of you? Anyway, we adopted you immediately. Both Jeanette and Lix, we visited you at Roxie’s home anytime we had the possibility, to bring you some food and caress you. And you always rewarded us with your tranquil purr.

Later on, we took you home to us, as we deemed it is better both for you and for Roxie. You were too much time alone, as Roxie was busy with her life (and her new friend ;-).

We spent the last year or so with you and we were amazed how well educated you were: you understood everything immediately, what you are allowed to do and what not; we understood you too, as you “educated” us patiently, so that you got what you wanted. Do you remember your very first two nights with us, when you slept alone in the living room? a couple of nights later you convinced us that your sleeping place is actually with us in the bedroom.

We will never know how you landed at the Animal Shelter. The explanation we got that you were raw with a kid is nonsense: you were such a nice and peaceful cat, that we can’t imagine you doing something like this. We will never know who your previous owners were, and why they let you down, however they must have educated you well. You were so clean! And you never jumped on tables or sofas; you never bothered us when we sat at dinner as other cats normally do. You had a common sense that made you a very agreable cat.

There are many other things that we will never know about you: how was your life as a kitty, were you a playful cat when you were young? do you missed your mother when separated? did you ever had your own little kitties? And finally, as we know how delicate and sensible you are, how did you manage to live through the ordeal of being one month in a cage (so have we been told) at the Animal Shelter until Roxie “saved” you?

We are so sorry that you had to go, we wished we could have been together for another couple of years. But we hope that those almost two years you were with us, were at least as pleasant for you as those you spent with your previous owners. We will never forget how you jumped at night in our bed, but never before at least one of us sat on it; or how you came at the door when you heard Lix coming from work in the evening. We will never forget how you came downstairs with your typical “mieaw” when we were sitting on the couch in front of the TV and how you litterally dropped on the floor waiting for one of us to cuddle you… or how you “knocked” at Jeanette’s door in the morning to wake her up and feed you.

Pünktchen, we will never forget you! Rest in peace…

Roxie, Jeanette and Lix
