If your box cannot connect anymore to the the DSLAM, or if the connexion speed is getting lower with the time, this might be the solution for you. Use this step by step description to replace the defective electrolytic capacitors in your Fritz!Box 7270. When new, my Fritz!Box synchronized with almost 8MB/s download but gradually sunk to 2,5 Mb/s during a three-year period. Finally it refused completely to synchronize on the DSL signal, which prompted me to investigate it. As I recently repaired an Apple Time Capsule having similar capacitors issues, it was for me quite logical that the Fritz!Box may suffer from the same "disease". And indeed, after replacing the capacitors, not only that I am again on-line, but I get now the same 8 MB/s connection from the early days… DISCLAIMER: do this on your own risk!
